Whether you’ve begrudgingly agreed to spruce up your LinkedIn, or you love diving headfirst into building your social media, I’ve got 3 tips I want to share with you to help streamline the process of maximizing your online personal brand.

1. Create Your Personal Brand Why Story

Your Personal Brand Why Story is the cornerstone of your marketing. Instead of a stuffy, buttoned-up biography droning on and on about credentials, this story explains why you do what you do and why you care about the clients you serve. So, step 1 in creating an accessible and likeable personal brand online – create your story!

2. Video, Video, Video

Once your story is created, put it on video and share it! On your website, SM profiles, in the signature line of your email, etc. In order to build your online personal brand, it’s so important people see you face-to-face. That way, they know you’re a real human they can like and trust.

3. Use Your LinkedIn Profile…The RIGHT Way!

LinkedIn is an incredible networking platform; unfortunately, I see people misuse it all the time.

The biggest mistake I see is this: your LinkedIn “About” section is NOT meant to mirror your “Experience” section.

Instead of credentials and professional experience, your “About” section is an opportunity for you to genuinely share who you are with your clients, prospects, and candidates. Like you’re sitting at a coffee shop with them, chatting over a latte, rather than sitting on opposite ends of a screen.

What’s truly going to draw people in and make them feel close to you is hearing why you do what you do and why you care about the clients you serve (ahem, your Personal Brand Why Story!).

In sum, when you incorporate all 3 of these personal branding strategies into your online presence, you’ll develop trust, connection, and likeability faster than you ever thought possible.
